It only takes
a small step from you ... for a child to take a big one
Giving disabled children their freedom costs time and
money. We're giving the time - can you give the money?
EDC will use it to provide essential equipment for local disabled
children.
Equipment for Disabled Children is a Guildford based charity for
local children. It is specifically for those in the West Surrey area or
those who
attend the Royal Surrey County Hospital Children's Unit.
We live in an age where sophisticated equipment is available to make
the lives of disabled children much, much better. But it is expensive. A trike costs over £600, over £1,000 for a computerised image enhancer for a
visually impaired teenager. |

This kind of equipment is life enhancing, but can seldom
be supplied from State funds due to budgetary constraints - which is why
EDC
was set up in 1990.
Each child is different, so EDC tries to find the equipment that
would bring the most benefit to each one. Their disabilities are wide
ranging (anything from autism to muscular dystrophy) so the needs of no two
children are seldom alike.
The difference such equipment can make to a disabled child growing up
is incalculable. Do you remember your own childhood? Riding your bike,
playing out with friends and enjoying toys. Simple pleasures we take for
granted - and we can't deny them to local disabled children.
EDC is a charity run by volunteers who give freely of their time. The
money raised is used to provide equipment for special needs children. Any
donation will help to buy much needed specialised toys and equipment. |
